Changes to Sunday 15 April - and Quick Report on the Roadtrip

It's been a busy week and one of the first things to go is taking time to post things here. But here's a couple of items:

1. 5pm Sunday Mass on 15 April will be Novus Ordo in Latin. Fr. Blake is on vacation next week, and Fr. Seiler is stepping in to allow him to get a jump on his time away. Musically speaking, the Mass Parts and Hymn remain the same; the Propers are, of course, different for the "Third Sunday of Easter, Year B" in the Ordinary Form than for the "Second Sunday after Easter" in the Extraordinary Form. Luckily, I knew about this in just enough time that we could practice correctly on Tuesday night. Here's the sheet for the Introit, Offertory, and Communion Antiphon [LINK]. We'll do the Responsorial and the Alleluia Verse in English -- [LINK].

2. The Road Trip. Last night, Thursday 12 April, a group of us went up and sang for a special Traditional Latin Mass at St. John Berchmans Cathedral in Shreveport, celebrated by Fr. Benedict from Norcia Abbey in Italy. In the Extraordinary Form, the Mass Propers for weekdays are generally the same as the preceding Sunday, so see here [LINK]. The major differences were:

  • No Vidi Aquam
  • No Credo
  • No Antiphona ad Michaelem Archangelum
  • O Filii et Filiae was moved to after the Communion Antiphon

Thanks to the Choir Director at St. John's, Aaron Wilson, and the Organist, Caitlin [I'm sorry, but I didn't catch her last name], as well as the young men from St. Johns who so regularly come down to Natchitoches for our weekly TLM, for making us feel so welcome. Thanks as well to the members of our Schola who made the trip. You're the best!
